BMP Booklet
Pam Applicator
Two types of polyacrilamide, (PAM), are used in agriculture. One holds moisture in the soil but the one we are interested in, as a BMP, stops erosion dead in its tracks by causing the soil particles to clump together and fall out. It has many other benefits including better subbing of the beds, increased water and fertilizer penetration, increased germination, and better root growth which means more nutrient and water uptake by the plant. To top it all off it costs less than six dollars per acre to apply. Soilfix and Stockopam are the two brand names sold in the Imperial Valley. For more information about local suppliers contact the Imperial County Farm Bureau.
